Kaylee Hartung is a name that sports fans should be familiar with. The former ESPN reporter, who covered the College Football Playoff, NCAA Tournament, College World Series, and served as a sideline reporter and host on the SEC Network, announced her decision to leave the Worldwide Leader in Sports back in 2017. Since then, she’s been coming into her own as a correspondent on CNN.
Since joining CNN, Hartung, who is based out of Atlanta, has covered events like Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Nate, the riots in Charlottesville, the Solar Eclipse from Isle of Palms, South Carolina, the tragic shooting of church parishioners in Sutherland Springs, Texas, and the critical Alabama senate race between Democrat Doug Jones and Republican Roy Moore.
Hartung graduated from Washington and Lee University and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast journalism and politics. She has also won two Lone Star EMMY Awards for her feature on Texas Longhorns superfan Brandon Puente and for hosting a women’s history month edition of Longhorn Extra on ESPN’s Longhorn Network.
Hartung left a heartfelt message when she left ESPN, saying, “I’m grateful for the coaches, athletes, staffers and university officials who’ve shared their stories with me and let me be a part of their magical moments. I’m grateful for the fans who have embraced me and shared their passion with me. Thank you to everyone who’s been a part of my life during this incredibly fun and exciting chapter. I can’t wait to see what this next chapter has in store… Now I get to be a fan of you all!”
