The Fourth of July is, of course, an American holiday celebrating the birth of our nation by the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. 2018 marks the 242nd anniversary of this civilization-shaping event. Though you can enjoy the usual celebratory rituals of cookouts, picnics and fireworks, it’s always important to stay appraised of your financial situation. The Fourth is a federal holiday so most businesses and schools will be closed for the day including most banks. This means if you want to deposit or withdraw money or are expecting a direct deposit stub to go through on the Fourth or the surrounding days, you may need to wait an extra day or so for your transaction to be processed.
