At long last, the round of 16 is upon us in the World Cup. In the second round of 16 game, Portugal will battle Uruguay for a spot in the quarterfinals. Both teams were able to advance in their respective groups with relative ease despite Portugal’s inability to finish first in its group. Now, star forwards Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez will battle it out as both players will look to deliver a decisive blow against each other on the scoreboard this Saturday.
Portugal’s success is due to its star forward Cristiano Ronaldo. There is a reason why Ronaldo is in the discussion for being the greatest soccer play of all time. Ronaldo has the ability to carry any team to success whether it is in domestic or international play. So far this World Cup, Ronaldo has looked like the best player on the planet. In three games, he has scored four goals including a hat trick against Spain in the tournament opener. Ronaldo will have his work cut out for him against Uruguay’s elite defense but he definitely has the skills to cause some serious damage if the opportunity presents itself.

Uruguay’s defense has been the key to its success but Portugal’s strikers are a lot more talented than the likes of Russia, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
As for my prediction, I have to side with Portugal. I personally think that Ronaldo is the greatest player of all time so I will side with him in such an even contest. This game could go either way but I think that Ronaldo will generate some good scoring chances as Portugal escapes with a 1-0 victory.
