Cavani was born in Salto, Uruguay. With the sport in his blood, his two older brothers, Walter Guglielmone and Christian Cavani are both professional footballers. Around 2005, Cavani began his career playing for Danubio in Montevideo, playing for around two years. In 2007, he moved on to play four seasons for Palermo.
