Early Life & Destiny’s Child
Beyoncé Giselle Knowles was born in Houston, Texas, on September 4, 1981. When she was eight, her and childhood friend Kelly Rowland met LaTavia Roberson while at an audition for an all-girl entertainment group.
In 1996, Beyonce and her group Girl’s Tyme began recording their debut album under an agreement with Sony Music. Girl’s Time changed their name to Destiny’s Child in 1996, based upon a passage in the Book of Isaiah.
In 1997, Destiny’s Child released their major label debut song “Killing Time” on the soundtrack to the 1997 film, Men in Black and released their self-titled debut album in 1998.
Destiny’s Child released their hit second album “The Writing’s on the Wall” in 1999. The album featured arguably their most successful song ever, “Say My Name”. In October 2001, Destiny’s Child went on hiatus.

Beyonce and Jay-Z, who began dating after they collaborated on Jay-Z’s single “’03 Bonnie & Clyde” in 2002, got married on April 4, 2008. In 2010, Beyonce had a miscarriage, and in 2012, had their first child, a daughter named Blue Ivy Carter. In 2018, after some marital troubles due to Jay-Z’s cheating, the couple had two more twins, Rumi and Sir Carter, on June 13, 2017.
