Williams Parkway Elementary School, a school in Brampton, Ontario, has been placed on lockdown after a person believed to be carrying a gun was believed to be in the area. In reaction to the incident, many schools in the area were placed on lockdown or on a hold and secure order.
According to The Brampton Guardian, at least two schools were placed into lockdown, which were identified as Williams Parkway and Judith Nyman Secondary School.
In addition, other schools in the area were placed under a hold and secure order, including Hilldale Elementary School and St. Jean Brebeuf Elementary School.
A fight may have sparked the lockdown
Reports allege that witnesses saw two youths start a fight before Williams Parkway Elementary School; witnesses reported to officials that one of the youths may have had a gun.
Tactical Unit officers and a police dog are in the area of Williams Parkway and MacKay Street while they are searching for victims or a suspect.
At this time, it is unknown if there had been injuries or victims connected to the incident.
UPDATE: According to In Brampton, all of the lockdowns and hold and secure orders have been lifted; during the time of the incident, some of the schools, such as Williams Pkwy PES, were taken out of lockdown and put into hold and secure.
