Which 'Game of Thrones' Prequel Show Did HBO Order?

The world of Westeros is about to get a whole lot bigger come the year 2020 and beyond. George R. R. Martin’s story Age of Heroes will be the groundwork for this new series (still untitled) with the showrunner, Jane Goldman, taking the reigns from David Benioff and D.B. Weiss — the duo who catapulted Game of Thrones to global success. The other four series that were up for contention are still being considered, however, Goldman’s pilot is the only order from HBO as of now.
Goldman is an English screenwriter known best for the screenplays of Kingsman: The Secret Service (2015) and its sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017), as well as X-Men: First Class (2011), Kick-Ass (2010) and Stardust (2007). Goldman also worked on the story of X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014), the sequel to First Class, in partnership with Matthew Vaughn.
The Golden Age of Heroes as Martin calls it, takes place 10,000 years before the events we know from Game of Thrones and the A Song of Ice and Fire book series (that George is taking his sweet time to finish writing). This expands the scope to legendary figures barely touched upon like Bran the Builder and the mysteries that lie to the East in the Shadowlands of Asshai. All those stories about the Long Night that have fallen into myth and legend are about to come to light!
HBO:

“Taking place thousands of years before the events of ‘Game of Thrones,’ the series chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. And only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East, to the Starks of legend … it’s not the story we think we know.”

Long story short – expect a hell of a lot more than dragons.
