A shooting took place at a strip mall in southern New Jersey on Saturday afternoon, with reports claiming that at least one person was killed and at least one officer was taken to the hospital due to injuries related to the incident. Reports claimed the shooting took place near a Marshalls in the strip mall.

What happened?

According to CBS3, the suspect fled as police were arriving at the scene, which was around the 1800 block of Clements Bridge Road; allegedly, the suspect was believed to have stolen a suitcase full of items from the Marshalls. Before fleeing, it was also believed that shots were fired in the mall’s parking lot. The site of the shooting is believed to be taped off from the public.
At this time, the Marshalls is believed to be located in a strip mall called Deptford Crossing; the shooting did not take place at the nearby Deptford Mall, which is said to be close to the area of the shooting.


At least one person was killed in the shooting

According to NJ.com, an unidentified person was killed in the incident; while an officer was injured during the incident, the publication claimed that the officer was not actually shot.
At this time, the suspect behind the shooting is believed to still be at large.
UPDATE: According to CBS3, a male suspect connected to the case was identified as Raoul Gadson; two female suspects connected to the story were identified as LaShanda Anderson and Chanel Barnes.
Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene; an autopsy confirmed that her cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds. She was 36 at the time of her death. Barnes was taken into custody by officers and charged with shoplifting and Gadson remains at large.
