Blanche Ely High School in Pompano Beach, Florida on lockdown after report of an armed person on campus. The Broward County Sheriff’s Office is telling reporter and parents on campus that no shots have been fired. The suspect is now reportedly in custody. The lockdown in Pompano Beach comes just six days after the deadly shooting at Santa Fe High School in Texas that left 10 people dead and 13 people injured.
Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the school just before 1:30 p.m., Thursday. SWAT team was also spotted on the campus. No other information was made immediately available.

The lockdown at Blanche Ely High School is just the latest in a string of lockdowns, bomb threats, and shootings that have plagued the United States. Over the course of the past few years, shootings such as these have been a scourge upon the country and people have struggled with coming up with a solution. Lockdowns have become all too common as a means of protection when students and faculty are in danger and today is no different.
This incident follows similar incidents at Dodd Middle School in Connecticut, Windham Public Schools also in Connecticut, Pacoima Middle School in Los Angeles, Millennium Middle School in Florida, and US Grant High School in Oklahoma, which are just some of the places where events such as this have occurred.
