UFC 224 Medical Suspensions: Amanda Nunes Out Up To 6 Months

|

On Monday afternoon, Atletica Brasileira de MMA (CABMMA) announced the UFC 224 medical suspensions from this past weekend’s pay-per-view event which took place at Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. CABMMA is the athletic commission that oversaw the event, and all 20 participants on the card have been handed a medical suspension of at least 14 days with no contact permitted for seven days.

Among the most lengthy bans, however, is women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes.

Despite Nunes’ dominant victory over Raquel Pennington — who is suspended for 60 days and needs a release from a maxillofacial skull surgeon — the Brazilian is facing up to a six-month layoff. Nunes will be suspended for 180 days unless she is cleared after an x-ray on her right foot.

Ronaldo “Jacare” ouza, who competed in the co-main event, is also facing a 180-day layoff unless he is cleared after an x-ray on his right foot.
