Coors Field, home stadium of the Colorado Rockies, is one of the most well-known parks to play in around Major League Baseball. The ball flies there and it is just a spectacular place to watch a game. The Rockies have two possible MVP candidates on their team in Charlie Blackmon and Nolan Arenado, exciting! Right? That’s why the Denver Post ran an “Ultimate Visitors Guide to Coors Field” ahead of the Colorado Rockies’ home opener today. There’s just one problem… the picture they used was of Citizen’s Bank Park, the home of the Philadelphia Phillies.
Now maybe this would be a little bit more forgivable if the Phillies were playing the Rockies today. BUT, the Rockies play the Braves. The Denver Post has since apologized for the tweet, but that doesn’t mean we’re going to let them hear the end of the jokes. Also, the Rockies just installed a new scoreboard that might be hard to miss, just to pile on.

After the Rockies were knocked out in the Wild Card game by the Arizona Diamondbacks, they were aggressive this offseason. The team was able to sign three of the top four relief pitchers on the free agent market. Jake McGee, Bryan Shaw and Wade Davis is arguably the best back-end bullpen trio in the MLB. Combining that with a potent offense that plays 81 games a year in the easiest park to hit home runs in, the Rockies are looking to do some damage. Nolan Arenado is a legitimate MVP candidate, and arguably the best player in baseball. Jon Gray is looking to take a big leap forward as the ace of the pitching staff. Watch out for DJ LeMahieu this season, he’s a sneaky All-Star candidate hitting out of the second spot in the order and playing second base. They also just signed star center fielder Charlie Blackmon to a six-year, $106 million extensions. The Dodgers are going to be tough to be out for the NL West, but the Rockies have the ammo to potentially make a run at dethroning last year’s National League champions.
Let’s hope the Rockies’ hometown paper remembers where the team actually plays this year!
