James Eric Davis Jr Photos: Full Story of University of Central Michigan Shooter


James Eric Davis Jr. has been named as the suspect in the Central Michigan University dorm room shooting that left two people dead. According to CBS, a law enforcement official speaking to WWJ Newsradio 950 said the victims were the shooters’ parents. Sources also told the Detroit Free Press the victims were the suspect’s parents.
Davis Jr. is a black male, approximately 19 years of age, 5’10” and 135 lbs. He is currently at large and is considered armed and dangerous. He is reportedly wearing yellow pants and a blue shirt, although he may have removed them.
On the morning of Friday, March 2, Davis Jr. allegedly shot and killed two people on the fourth floor of Campbell Hall at Central Michigan University.
At a press conference held around 12 p.m. EST, law enforcement officials confirmed that James Eric Davis Jr, 19, shot and killed two people around 8:30 a.m. local time. Lieutenant Larry Klaus of the CMU PD confirmed that the incident took place in Campbell Hall. He did not know how many weapons were involved.
Klaus believes the situation involves a domestic dispute. Klaus called it “a domestic type family issue”, however, he “would not confirm” if the victims were his parents.
Central Michigan University police, Mt. Pleasant Police, Sherriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, and FBI are assisting in the search.
Davis Jr. was reportedly released from the Mclaren-Central Michigan due to a drug-related incident this morning.

Central Michigan University police confirm two individuals were fatally shot at Campbell Hall on campus this morning. The deceased are not students and police believe the situation started from a domestic situation. There are no additional injuries. Campus is on lockdown as the suspect is still at large.
The person of interest is James Eric Davis, Jr. He is a black male, approximately 19 years of age, 5’10” and 135 lbs.
Those planning to come to campus today to pick up students for spring break should stay off campus until further notice. Please go to the Comfort Inn, 2424 S. Mission St. University staff will be on site to support the families.
CMU police are working closely with local and state police.

At the time of the shooting, Central Michigan University posted the following alert to Twitter:

“Please avoid Campbell Hall until we hear more information. We received an emergency alert of shots fired in Campbell Hall.”

The university was placed on lockdown at the time of the shooting.
