Joel Taylor of the Discovery Channel television show Storm Chasers has passed away at the age of 38-years-old. Taylor allegedly died of a suspected overdose.
According to TMZ, a representative for the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line Harmony of the Seas said that Taylor was found unresponsive in his cabin Tuesday and law enforcement was alerted when the boat arrived in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Taylor studied meteorology at the University of Oklahoma before appearing on Discovery’s Storm Chasers from 2008 to 2012.
Reed Timmer, a friend of Taylor’s who co-starred on Storm Chasers, wrote on Twitter:
“RIP my best friend and storm chasing partner, Joel Taylor. I am shocked and absolutely devastated by the loss of my incredible, caring friend. We chased so many intense storms, and I wish we could have just one more storm chase. I’ll miss you forever, Joel. We lost a legend.”

The cause of Joel’s death remains unclear at this time. It is not believed to be storm chasing-related.
Storm Chasers was an American documentary reality television series that premiered on October 17, 2007, on the Discovery Channel. The show followed teams of storm chasers as they attempt to intercept tornadoes in Tornado Alley in the United States. The show was canceled at the end of its 5th season by Discovery Communications on January 21, 2012.
