Who is Taiwan Jones? He may or may not be a real person who attends Howard University and just flunked a midterm. Mr. Jones became a viral hit late Thursday night hours after Twitter user and Atlanta resident Roy Handy tweeted about sitting next to a professor and peeping over at test scores of the now-infamous Taiwan Jones.

Buzzfeed reached out to the twitter user behind the Taiwan Jones joke. His name is Roy Handy, the guy who pulled a viral Twitter hint out of his ear (I can’t say “ass”).
Handy wrote in an e-mail to Buzzfeed, saying, “I can not verify what school the student attends, which is why I said ‘if’ in context of the tweet. I wasn’t aware of how much power this relatable topic could have across the HBCU community as a whole.”
When asked about to give a quick answer on what he really witnessed on that plane, Handy suggested that his Tweet should be taken, “as a fun, relatable tweet that people enjoyed to take part in, and keep the confidentiality of the story being fact or fiction to myself. I’m not really in the position to take phone calls, and I can’t really give an account to anything that was tweeted under the terms that I’d rather leave the tweet in.”
After searching the Howard University directory, it is revealed that there is no Taiwan Jones attending the university.

According to a source from Complex, there are no current student enrolled under the name “Taiwan Jones.”
