After falling down 3-0 to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Chicago Cubs were able to win Game 4 by a score of 3-2 to force a Game 5.
Looking to advance to the World Series, the Dodgers will be starting their ace, Clayton Kershaw. Five innings were all the Dodgers needed from Kershaw in Game 1, as the bullpen pitched four perfect innings after his exit. Kershaw won his only career start in a potential series-clinching game, recording six scoreless innings in the 2013 NLDS.
On the mound for the defending champion Cubs will be mid-season acquisition Jose Quintana. Quintana has experienced some tough luck in his first postseason, taking no-decisions in both of his starts despite allowing just two earned runs in 11 1/3 innings. That included two runs on two hits over 5 innings in Game 1 of this series in L.A.
The Cubs are going to need a gem out of Quintana if they’re going to force their series back to Los Angeles, because despite the win, the Cubs big bats have yet to come alive. Facing Kershaw, however, will sure make that difficult for the defending champions.
