Retired NFL Star Dimitri Patterson Tries To Escape Courtroom, Ends Up Injuring Two Officers

Former NFL star Dimitri Patterson fled the courtroom after the judge informed cornerback that he was going to jail. As Patterson made his escape, he ended up injuring two court officers. He tackled one female officer, while another officer was also injured.
Dimitri Patterson, 34, attended a hearing at the Lawson E. Thomas Court for felony child abuse charges stemming from an altercation with his wife back in 2015. He was alleged to have grabbed his wife by the neck and thrown her to the ground, all the while she was holding their one-year-infant. The baby head is said to have hit the floor causing a bruise and giving Patterson a felony charge. When the judge read Patterson his sentence, the NFL star ran like he was going for a touchdown.
The former Miami Dolphins star tackled a female court officer, who fell and hit her head. She was taken to a local hospital, and her condition hasn’t been reported. Another officer injured his hand while trying to stop Patterson from fleeing.
Patterson had spent nine seasons in the NFL. In 2005, he was signed by the Washington Redskins, but didn’t make it past practice. Two years later, the Kansas City Chiefs picked up this player. He went on to play for the the Philadelphia Eagles, Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, and New York Jets.
On August 2, 2011, the cornerback signed a very lucrative one-year-contract with the Cleveland Brown, guaranteeing him a whopping 3.6 million in one year. He was released by the Browns in December 2012. He then spent the next two years playing for the Miami Dolphins before signing onto the New York Jets on April 1, 2014.
In August 2004, Patterson was released by the Jets after going AWOL for two days and missing a preseason game.
