Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington passed away on Wednesday at the age of 41. Bennington left behind an enduring legacy in rock music. He toured the world, selling out stadiums with his band Linkin Park. Now, he will live on through the sound of his music.
Bennington is a rock icon who has been writing and recording songs for over twenty years. He’s a multi-time platinum recording artist who has become a legend in the music industry. But how much money has Bennington earned over the years?
Chester Bennington net worth as of 2019: $30 Million
Chester has really stacked up that cheese over the years. His bank book is flooded with zeros. He’s a rock god who had money flowing out the whatever. When he died, he left behind a wife and six children. His death may have felt like it left a void the size of Canada, but he’s left behind a lot of money to leave his family financially stable. Let’s take a look of Bennington’s road to riches…
1993 – 2005
Bennington began his career, singing for bands like Sean Dowdell and His Friends and Grey Daze. At the time, Chester played post-grunge music, releasing records like Demo, Wake/Me, and …no sun today.
Chester was right about to give up on music for good. But then he got a call from Jeff Blue, the vice president of A&R at Zomba Music in Los Angeles. This man offered Bennington a chance to audition for the band Linkin Park. He missed his own celebration to record a song for the audition. And let’s just say, the rest would be history…
On October 24, 2000, Linkin Park dropped their debut album Hybrid Theory. This album went on to sell over 11 million in the United States alone. In early 2002, Bennington talked to Rolling Stone magazine about his writing process. “It’s easy to fall into that thing – ‘poor, poor me’, that’s where songs like ‘Crawling’ come from: I can’t take myself. But that song is about taking responsibility for your actions. I don’t say ‘you’ at any point. It’s about how I’m the reason that I feel this way. There’s something inside me that pulls me down.”
2005 – Present
Linkin Park is an incredible powerhouse in the music industry. Over the years, it’s accumulated 70 million record sales worldwide, along with two Grammy awards. The band has released seven albums, all complete commercial successes.
Bennington has also branched out to working with different bands. In 2005, he formed Death by Sunrise, becoming their lead singer and songwriter. In May 2013, Chester was selected to replace Scott Weiland as the lead singer of the Stone Temple Pilots. In 2015, he left the band to continue working on his main band.
Linkin Park released their final album on May 19, 2017. On Thursday, July 20, 2017, Chester Bennington passed away in LA. He left behind an enduring legacy of song and rock’n’roll.
