Happy National Mojito Day, folks! It’s that time of the year specifically dedicated to celebrating this traditional Cuban highball. It’s a day when America honors that minty lime cocktail. And please, drink responsibly.
It isn’t your average Tuesday. Nope. Today’s National Mojito Day. Every July 11th, the 50 states of freedom pay tribute to the mixed drinks that came before us.
I do have one dominant mojito memory from my teenage years. I was seventeen years old and decided to be a bad boy and drink a little bit of Bacardi Mojito. Later that day, I went to my friend Mike’s birthday party. He was able to hide some warm beer in the garage. I drank half a cup and felt nauseous. I walked off and felt like I’m going to puke. I do end up puking right on the glass door while Mike’s mom stood in horror behind the door being splattered with stomach acid liquid.
Was it the mojito? Was it the warm beer? I’m not sure.
By the way, remember again to drink responsibly. And also be sure that you’re at least twenty-one years old before you pick up any mojito.
Mojito Ingredients
- 1.5 oz White Rum
- 6 Leaves of Mint
- Soda Water
- 1 oz Fresh Lime Juice
- 2 Teaspoons of Sugar
Mojito Preparation
- Mix sugar and lime juice with the mint leaves
- Pour rum in the glass and top that with soda water
- Garnish the glass with mint leaves
- Don’t forget the straw!
