WWE Great Balls of Fire 2017 Results: Live Updates & Must-See Highlights

Welcome to Great Balls of Fire. The superstars of Monday Night Raw are set to burn up the American Airlines Center. “The Beast Incarnate” Brock Lesnar will put his Universal Championship on the line against “The Destroyer” Samoa Joe.

But first, “The King of the Cruiserweights” Neville puts his title on the line against the Titus Brand’s newest acquisition, Akira Tozawa.

Paul Heyman says that Samoa Joe is the toughest challenge of Brock Lesnar’s life.


WWE Cruiserweight Championship match: Neville (c) vs. Akira Tozawa

Both men lock it up. Akira gains the early advantage and knocks Neville out of the ring. But he takes too much time running the ropes and Neville pounces. “The King of the Cruiserweights” dissects his opponent in and outside the ring.

Neville tosses Tozawa into the barricade. When we return from the break, Neville is breaking apart his opponent with kicks so hard “it could collapse a lung,” according to a WWE ringside announcer.

But Neville gets too cocky and starts slapping Tozawa. Akira slaps back and inflicts rapid fire strikes on the champion. Neville pushes back, but gets hit in the jaw. Tozawa drops the drops on his head. The challenger ascends the top rope, but Neville rolls out of the ring.

Tozawa runs the ropes and jumps onto Neville on two occasions. Tozawa rolls Neville into the ring. 1…2…kick out!

Neville tries to rally back, but hooked up in an Octopus Stretch. Neville somehow breaks free. Tozawa tries to put away his opponent, but “The King of the Cruiserweights” battles back hard. Neville beats Tozawa into the corner and then ascends the top rope.

Neville attempts a moonsault, but Tozawa moves out of the way.  Tozawa tries to roll up Neville, but the king kicks out. Neville regains control, but Tozawa quickly reverses the tide. Tozawa hits a big back splash, but Neville rolls out of the ring.

Tozawa attempts to attack Neville, but gets caught and dumped on the ropes crotch-first. Neville kicks the ropes to add insult to injury. Neville quickly puts away the challenger in the center of the ring.

Bray Wyatt vs. Seth Rollins

Rollins goes hard in the early going, but gets sloppy and Wyatt catches him. Bray dissects Rollins in and out of the ring. Wyatt is picking Rollins apart, slamming him to the mat and barricade. Wyatt almost knocks his head off with a lariat.

Seth rallies back and starts kicking serious ass. Wyatt tries to turn the tide, but “The Architect” is just too much. Rollins drops “The Eater of Worlds” with a Falcon’s Arrow. But Wyatt kicks out.

Wyatt turns the tide and beats down Rollins. He tells the crowd, “this is what a man looks like” mention to Seth. Wyatt points to himself and tells the audience, “this is what a God looks like.” Rollins returns to his feet and attacks Wyatt with a flurry of fists. Bray retreats out of the ring as Rollins relentlessly chases after him with punch after punch to the face and temple.

Bray pokes Rollins in the eye. Wyatt slithers in the ring and hits Seth with a Sister Abigail.

Enzo Amore vs. Big Cass

Enzo Amore comes down to the ring for a speech. He gets emotional on the microphone, talking about how his real life is better than his dreams because of the fans. He calls Cass shawf. Enzo is tough and he’s going to dedicate every ounce of energy in his body to this match.

This match is a complete one-sided affair. Cass annihilates Enzo in the ring. Cass chokes, stomps and clobbers. Cass picks up Enzo high in the air and dumps up him out of the ring.

Enzo somehow makes it to the ring just before the referee makes the ten count. Cass quickly puts away the little guy with a big boot.

30-Minute Iron Man Match for the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship: Sheamus & Cesaro (c) vs. The Hardy Boyz

Cesaro tags in Sheamus, but Matt doesn’t see the tag. Cesaro runs and distracts Hardy, while Sheamus hits the Brogue Kick for the pinfall victory. Sheamus gets the first fall.

Sheamus & Cesaro get the first pin. 1-0

Jeff Hardy fights back hard to turn the tide. Cesaro kills Hardy’s momentum and tags in Sheamus. “The Celtic Warrior” Sheamus keeps control over Hardy for a minute until the “Charismatic Engima” fights back and tags in his brother Matt.

Matt Hardy dominates Sheamus. Matt takes the fight to the outside. As he bounces Sheamus’ head against the ring apron, the crowd chants “Delete.” Hardy takes the fight back to the ring and hits a Twist of Fate and goes for the pin. Sheamus kicks out.

Matt tags in Jeff. The Hardy Boyz double-team the Celtic Warrior. But they can’t put away Sheamus for a pinfall. Jeff locks in the armbar, but Sheamus fights up and slings Hardy out of the ring. Cesaro capitalizes on the situation and takes out Jeff. Matt attacks Cesaro, but Sheamus intervenes and Cesaro takes him out with an uppercut.

Jeff tries to rally back. But Sheamus & Cesaro control the pace. The Celtic Warrior prevents Hardy from making the tag. Meanwhile, Matt eats a big boot and he’s taken out of the equation. Sheamus & Cesaro pick apart of the vulnerable Hardy, as they hit him with a big double-team move for the second pinfall of the night.

Sheamus & Cesaro get the second pin. 2-0

Sheamus tries to squash Jeff into the corner, but Hardy moves out of the way. Matt gets the tag and he goes on the attack. Matt smacks Cesaro’s head into the turnbuckle as the crowd chants “delete! delete! delete!”

Matt hits a bulldog on Cesaro. Matt and Jeff double-team “The Swiss Superman,” hitting him with a Poetry In Motion, Side Effect combo.

The Hardy Boyz get their first pin. 2-1

Sheamus gets the tag and goes on the attack, stomping on Jeff. Hardy rallies back and takes out “The Celtic Warrior.” Matt gets the tag and continues the punishment. Cesaro breaks up a pin attempt. Cesaro almost gets deleted as he’s thrown out of the ring. Jeff runs the ropes and leaps on both opponents.

Matt leaves the ring and starts breaking the crap out of Sheamus with hard shots to the face. Matt throws Cesaro back in the ring, but Cesaro snatches Matt and sends him face-first into the turnbuckle. The referee counts out Matt.

Sheamus & Cesaro get their third win, via countout. 1-3

Cesaro & Sheamus are picking apart Matt. Both Sheamus & Cesaro takes out Jeff on the apron on two separate occasions. Cesaro locks in the sharpshooter on Matt, but Jeff runs in the ring and breaks up the submission. Matt works his way to the corner and Jeff gets the tag. Matt rolls up Cesaro and Hardy hits a split-legged splash on Cesaro for their second win.

The Hardy Boyz get their second win, via pinfall. 2-3

Sheamus and Matt brawl. Matt gains control and hits a moonsault for the top rope. Matt goes for the pinfall, but Cesaro breaks it up at the count of 2. Jeff throws Cesaro out of the ring.

Matt puts away Sheamus with a Twist of Fate from the top rope.

The Hardy Boyz get third win, via pinfall. 3-3

Jeff tries to put away Sheamus again. Hardy attempts a Twist of Fate, but Cesaro rolls Sheamus out of the ring. Jeff leaps out onto both Cesaro and Sheamus.

Both Hardys ascend the top rope and jump out onto Sheamus. Sheamus kicks out because of Cesaro. Jeff regains control of the situation and hits Sheamus with a Swanton Bomb.

Cesaro runs in the ring and quickly grabs hold of Hardy for his team fourth pinfall victory.

Cesaro & Sheamus get their fourth win, via pinfall. 4-3

Jeff chases Cesaro around the ring. Hardy catches The Swiss Superman and hits him with a Twist of Fate with only three seconds remaining. Jeff goes for the pin, but the time runs out before the referee can make a three count.

Sheamus & Cesaro retain the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship


WWE Raw Women’s Championship match: Alexa Bliss (c) vs. Sasha Banks

Sasha gains the early advantage. She attacks Alexa who retreats into the corner. It looks like Bliss’ forearm is dislocated. The referee checks on Alexa. Bliss suckers in Sasha with a forearm to the face. Bliss pops her forearm back in the socket and smiles.

Bliss dissects Sasha. But The Boss rallies back and has Bliss reeling. Sasha suplexes Alexa into the corner. Both ladies trade shots. Sasha hits a back-to-belly suplex. Alexa hits a moonsault. But almost immediately, The Boss is back on top, as she locks Bliss into the Banks Statement submission.

Alexa claws her way to the bottom rope. Bliss regains ground, dropping Sasha. The Boss gets up, but she is whipped into the barricade.

WWE Intercontinental Championship: The Miz (c) vs. Dean Ambrose

Ambrose comes in this match like a great ball of fire. Dean takes out Miz twice, then runs outside and takes out both Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel. Ambrose ascends the top rope, but gets distracted by Axel and The Miz capitalizes, taking out Ambrose.

Miz beats the crap out of Ambrose, but Dean takes the punishment like a champ and fights back even harder. Miz flips Ambrose upside down on the ropes and nails “The Lunatic Fringe” with three dropkicks.

Ambrose somehow rallies back and takes out Miz and his Miztourage. Dean takes out Miz with a Dirty Deeds, but Maryse puts her husband’s foot on the bottom rope. Ambrose gets retribution by running the ropes and taking out Miz with a suicide dive.

Dean is looking to put away The Miz. Curtis Axel jumps up on the apron and Ambrose pulls him into the ring. The referee tends to Axel. Meanwhile, Bo Dallas nails Ambrose in the back of the head. The Miz capitalizes on the opportunity and hits Ambrose with a Skull Crushing Finale.

Ambulance Match: Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman

Strowman dominates during the early going of this match-up. He treats Reigns like a ragdoll. Braun smashes Regns into the corner. What else can I say? Braun is beating the living sh*t out of Roman Reigns.

The action spills outside the ring. Reigns hurls Strowman into the ringpost. Braun turns the tables and sends Roman into the post. Braun hits Reigns in the face with steel steps next.

After a clear cut beatdown, Reigns somehow rallies back. Reigns levels Braun with a Drive-by kick and whipping him into the barricade. Reigns smacks Braun with a steel chair, but the big man seems unfazed.

The fight spills out all over the arena. Reigns spears Braun into the LED screen. Strowman fights out and tries to set Reigns up for a powerbomb, but Reigns slides out.

Reigns tries to spear Braun again, but jumps right the ambulance. Braun slams the doors shut.

Braun Strowman defeats Roman Reigns

Post-Match: Roman Reigns exits the ambulance. He beats up the tired Strowman and throws him into the ambulance. Reigns closes the doors and throws the ambulance driver out of the vehicle. Reigns drives off with the ambulance and speeds backwards into a tracker trailer with Strowman locked inside. WWE officials are at the scene, completely shocked at what transpired. Raw Generla Manager Kurt Angle says, “call the police.”


Curt Hawkins vs. Heath Slater

Slater strikes first. Both men tangle up. But we didn’t see the conclusion of this match as cameras rush to the scene of Braun Strowman trapped in the back of the crashed ambulence

Jaws of Life Retrieves “The Monster Among Men” Braun Strowman from the wrecked ambulance

Firefighters and medical personal used the “jaws of life” to get Strowman out of the ambulance. Braun refuses medical attention and stumbles off.


WWE Universal Championship match: Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Samoa Joe

Paul Heyman hypes up Lesnar before the match, and Joe assaults Brock from behind as he holds up the Universal Championship. Joe beats up Lesnar both inside and outside the ring. Joe hurls Lesnar into the barricade and then sends him crashing through the announcer’s table.

Lesnar staggers to the ring and tells the referee that he’s okay to fight. Joe immediately goes on the assault, squashing Lesnar into the corner. Joe hits a big kick and head butt. Lesnar tries to rally back with hard knees, but Joe puts him down once more. Joe traps Lesnar into the Coquina Clutch and The Beast’s face turns beat red. Lesnar escapes and Joe is way out of breath. Lesnar capitalizes on a winded Joe and takes him to suplex city. Lesnar hits three suplexes in total as the crowd cheers on. But then Joe reverses the momentum with a low blow to Lesnar.

Samoa Joe hits a Uranage slam and goes for the cover. 1…2…kick out!

Joe attempts to trap Lesnar into the Coquina Clutch again, but The Beast fights out and hits a side slam. Brock sends Joe on another trip to Suplex City with three Germans. Brock is back in control.

When Joe gets up, he’s dripping sweat. Joe turns the tide and locks Brock into another Coquina Clutch. Brock tries to fight out, backing Joe into the corner. But Joe pushes forward as Lesnar fades and his face turns purple.

Lesnar locks like he’s about to pass out. But then, outta nowhere, The Beast summons that extra wind. Brock returns to his feet and lifts up Joe onto his shoulders for an F-5. The Beast reigns supreme once again!
