Michael Nyqvist Cause of Death: How Did Michael Die?


Michael Nyqvist was a Swedish actor. He was educated at the School of Drama in Malmö, he became well known from his role as police officer Banck in the first series of Beck films made in 1997.

Nyqvist died on June 27, 2017, having suffered from lung cancer. He was the Best Male Supporting Actor at the Guldbagge Gala 2017. Other awards won include film star of the year 2002 and 2004 by Aftonbladet, a Swedish newspaper Best Male Actor 2003 by Nöjesguiden, Price winner The Golden Sun, 2004 Best Actor in the International Film Festival in Gijon 2003, As It Is in Heaven was nominated as Best Foreign Film at the Academy Awards in 2004 ,Best Male Actor in the International Film Festival in Minsk 2006 ,Won the Audience Price at the Guldbagge Gala 2006, Best Male Supporting Actor at the Guldbagge Gala 2017.

Nyqvist has 3 movies coming out: Hunter Killer in 2017, and Radegund and Kursk in 2018. He best known for playing Viggo Tarasov in John Wick and Mikael Blomkvist in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.  He was born in Stockholm, Sweden.

His family released a statement saying:

“Michael’s joy and passion were infectious to those who knew and loved him. His charm and charisma were undeniable, and his love for the arts was felt by all who had the pleasure of working with him”

Nyqvist, appeared in Lionsgate’s John Wick, co-starring with Keanu Reeves, and as the villain nuclear scientist in Paramount’s Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol, opposite Tom Cruise.

His role as Mikael Blomqvist in the American big screen adaptation of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, based on Stieg Larsson’s Millennium Trilogy, was played by Daniel Craig.

Nyqvist described his childhood and quest to find his biological parents, subsequently in his adult life, in his autobiographical novel, Just After Dreaming (Swedish title: När barnet lagt sig). He was married to scenographer Catharina Ehrnrooth and had two children, Ellen and Arthur.
