London Police Carry Out Controlled Explosion Of Van Parked Next To US Embassy

Metropolitan Police conducted a controlled explosion today in London.
They carried out the controlled explosion after being alerted to two unattended vehicles near the new US embassy in Wandsworth, London.
Police used a bomb disposal robot for the controlled explosion of a red van parked next to the new US Embassy building on Ponton Road at 5:37 PM on Wednesday.
The Met Police said the vehicles were not suspicious and that the neighboring roads would be reopened soon. Nearby residents were told to stay indoors and the car park of the nearby Waitrose supermarket was also closed.
Specialist officers were at the scene along with ambulance and fire service vehicles and cordons were in place.  The building is currently unopened and under construction.
