Heathrow Airport Arrest: Full Story & Must-See Details On Manchester Suspect

A 38-year-old man has been arrested at Heathrow Airport in relation to the Manchester Arena terror attack, according to the Greater Manchester Police.

What Happened?

A 38-year-old man was arrested at Heathrow Airport on suspicion of offenses contrary to the Terrorism Act. The arrest was a pre-planned police operation and the suspect was not attacking the airport, GMP clarified. The GMP stressed that there was “no direct threat” to the UK’s busiest airport.

A GMP spokesperson said:

“A man has been arrested at Heathrow Airport in connection with the investigation into the attack at Manchester Arena.

“The 38-year-old was arrested on suspicion of offences contrary to the Terrorism Act and remains in custody.

“The arrest was planned beforehand and there was no direct threat to the airport.”

Overall, 19 people have been arrested in connection with the suicide bombing that killed 22 people. Twelve of these people have been released without charge and seven remain in police custody.

The GMP spokesperson continued:

“As it stands 19 people in total have been arrested in connection with the investigation, of which 12 people have since been released without charge.

“A total of seven men remain in custody for questioning.”

The identity of the man arrested at Heathrow has not yet been released by authorities.

No other details are immediately available.

Manchester Bombing

On May 22, 2017, a suicide bombing occurred at Manchester Arena in Manchester, England, following a concert by American singer Ariana Grande. Twenty-three adults and children were killed, including the attacker, and 119 were injured, 23 critically.

Grande headlined the One Love Manchester benefit concert on Sunday, two weeks after the attack, which raised more than $3.5 million for the victims.
