Police are investigating after they said a juvenile was shot Thursday morning near a CATS bus stop in south Charlotte.
Officers were called to the scene near the Quail Corners Shopping Center on Park Road, close to Sharon Road West, around 8:00 A.M. and found a person suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, the shooting occurred in the 8600 block of Park Road, about a mile from the school.
MEDIC told Channel 9 that the victim has been taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but police said he would recover as they were not life-threatening.

Witnesses told Channel 9 that the man was getting off the CATS bus when a gun that was in his waistband discharged, striking him in the leg.
South Mecklenburg High School was placed on lockdown while police investigated and officers told Channel 9 they have not yet found a gun and that there may have been someone else involved.

South Mecklenburg High School is a public secondary school located in Charlotte, North Carolina. It is part of the Charlotte Mecklenburg School District. Locally it is known as “South Meck”, or just “South.”
