A rescue operation was underway following a partial collapse of a building at a construction site in downtown Oakland on Friday near Summit Medical Center. Nine construction workers were injured, but no one was killed.

What Happened?
The incident happened around 9:30 a.m. on 3000 block of Broadway at Hawthorne Ave near Summit Medical Center. Dozens of rescue workers and at least five ambulances were at the scene.

According to police, the building was under construction when part of the structure collapsed. It appears, police said, that workers were pouring concrete under the floor or wall that collapsed.
Cal-OSHA has been notified, according to police dispatchers.
Video showed at least four construction workers being attended to. No word on the severity of injuries. At least two of the workers were being transported to the hospital by ambulance. Three workers were being treated by medical personnel.
