Two familiar foes will meet in this second round Eastern Conference playoff series, as the Washington Capitals are set to take on the Pittsburgh Penguins. Pittsburgh has typically dominated this rivalry in the postseason, going 8-1 in playoff series against the Caps.
Washington got to the 2017 NHL playoffs by winning the Metropolitan Division with 118 points via a 55-19-8 record in the regular season. They were then able to take care of business in the first round of the playoffs, surviving a tough series against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
