Northwestern University Suspends Sigma Alpha Epsilon Until Fall 2018

Northwestern University has suspended the school’s Sigma Alpha Epsilon chapter for violating terms of a disciplinary probation for serving alcohol to minors.
The school announced Monday, April 24, that the SAE chapter at Northwestern will be suspended until September 1, 2018. Furthermore, current members must leave the fraternity house by May 6.
According to the university, the fraternity repeatedly hosted parties and provided alcohol to minors.
Sigma Alpha Epsilon said in a statement that it “maintains stringent guidelines and expectations for our members.” The national fraternity also said it hopes to re-establish recognition at Northwestern after the suspension.
The suspension comes just a couple of months after five Northwestern students were allegedly drugged and three of them sexually assaulted at two on-campus fraternity houses, with some of them taking place at SAE.
