The Maple Leafs are looking to mount a comeback against the Capitals tonight in the nation’s capital. Each team has earned two wins a piece in their best of seven series. But the last two games, the Leafs fell to Washington.
When the playoffs started off, the Maple Leafs looked strong. They won two consecutive games and looked prime for a clean sweep against the Capitals. But then the last two games, the tables turned against the team from Toronto.
Maple Leafs coach Mike Babcock remains optimistic. “We’re in a much better situation than we were when we went to Washington the first time,” said Babcock after practice on Thursday. “I think the competition level in each game in every series gets higher and higher. There’s a lot more at stake and a lot less recovery space, if that makes any sense.”
