The Penguins have a chance to knock out the Blue Jackets in game four of the first round. After the stunning overtime loss in game three, the Penguins killed the Blue Jackets’ chances of getting a win in the series. Facing elimination, this is an important game for the Blue Jackets. The Penguins and Blue Jackets are ready to square off in the Nationwide Arena, with a lot on the line for both teams.
The Penguins are making quick work of the playoffs, as they are already close to advancing to the second round. After winning the Cup last year, it looks like the Penguins are shooting for back-to-back years, and this team has not lost any of the mojo from last season. Winning tonight is also big. It means they get a little extra time to rest and get ready for the second round. That rest can give them an advantage over their opponent, which is the winner of the Capitals and Maple Leaf series. However, if the Penguins can’t win it tonight, they will still have three more shots at punching their ticket to the second, though I doubt it will take that long.
The Blue Jackets looked ready to explode in the postseason. After starting off the season strong, Columbus seemed to keep a steady pace all season long, and even looked like they could win their first playoff series. Playing the Penguins in the first round is not fun for any team, yet the Blue Jackets could have pulled off the upset and usurped the reigning champs. Things are looking very bleak for this team and their postseason could come to end in game four. Columbus may have to wait another year in order to try their hand at the playoffs. The only thing that this team can root for is to pull off the come-from-behind upset, which has happened in the playoffs before.
