Charlize Theron is a well-known name among movie fans. The 41-year-old actress has been popular for 20 years going and can next be seen in the eighth installment of the franchise that just won’t quit, The Fate of the Furious.
Theron was born in South Africa but moved to the United States when she was 17 to pursue a modeling career. Taking one quick look at her and it’s easy to see why that decision was made; Theron is remarkably beautiful.
She made her film debut back in 1995 but first started to gain a little traction in the ’96 feature 2 Days in the Valley. In the late 1990s, Theron started to make a name for herself with impressive turns in box office hits such as The Devil’s Advocate (1997), Mighty Joe Young (1998) and The Cider House Rules (1999).
In 2003, Theron starred as serial killer Aileen Wuornos in Monster, a performance that earned her an Academy Award win for Best Actress in a Leading Role. Movie critic Roger Ebert called it “one of the greatest performances in the history of cinema.” In 2005, Theron scored another Oscar nomination for her role in the docudrama North Country.
But she doesn’t just stroll red carpets. The Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project (CTAOP) was created in 2007 by Theron, a UN Messenger of Peace, in an effort to support African youth in the fight against HIV/AIDS. So not only is she incredibly gorgeous and talented, but Theron is also a good person unlike most of us.
Yeah, I feel inadequate.
Theron’s coolest recent role is undoubtedly as Imperator Furiosa in 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road where she played an absolute badass.
