Prison Break season five, also known as Prison Break: Resurrection after eight years off the air, will return on April 4, 2017 on FOX at 9:00 P.M. EST. The show originally aired for four seasons between 2005-2009 and was initially met with critical acclaim and strong ratings. However, the final two seasons were panned by fans and critics and the show’s popularity dwindled. But given the recent trend of TV revivals – Gilmore Girls, The X-Files, Fuller House, etc. – FOX is giving it another go.
Prison Break averaged an impressive 9.2 million viewers in its first season, 9.3 million in its second, 8.2 million in its third and 6.1 million in its fourth. Naturally, the executives at FOX are hoping the revival trends toward the former seasons rather than the latter.
