Two Teenagers Killed By Plane While Taking Selfies On Mexican Airstrip

Two Mexican teenagers were killed when the wing of a plane struck them on the heads as they took selfies on an airstrip on Saturday, March 25.
Nitzia Mendoza Corral, 18, and Clarissa Morquecho Miranda, 17, were on the airstrip videotaping themselves when an airplane came to land at the Chihuahua, Mexico airport. The two teens were standing in the back of a van at the airstrip and did not see the plane coming in time.
Their injuries were immediately fatal.
According to The Daily Mail, Mendoza and Morquecho were at a nearby horse race on Saturday, March 25, before heading to the airstrip.
Mendoza was studying law in college and Morquecho was completing her final year of high school, According to reports, some witnesses asked the two to get out of the vehicle because it was dangerous, but the girls refused.
A state prosecutor’s office spokesman said that authorities were still investigating the case and that there was no comment from the girls’ families at that time. Furthermore, the name of the pilot flying the plane was not disclosed. Similarly,  it is not currently clear how the plane came to be so close to a vehicle on landing.
