Sometimes, life throws you an unfair curveball. It could be something as simple and mundane as a flat tire on your way to work or it could be something as significant as the NCAA standing in the way of you doing your job. Such was the case for general assignment reporter Eric Alvarez of Fox Nashville.
Alvarez was attempting to report on the Elite Eight round of March Madness for his local Fox affiliate, but hit a show-stopping snag when the NCAA wouldn’t allow the show to use its highlight film. In a situation like this, Alvarez was faced with two options: shrug his shoulders and give up…or improvise. He went with the latter.
Rather than pull actual game film, Alvarez used Legos to bring to life the action packed events of the Gonzaga vs. Xavier and Oregon vs. Kansas games. Needless to say, it’s beautiful. Do yourselves a favor and treat yourself to the ingenuity by watching the quick video below courtesy of Alvarez himself.

If you couldn’t tell, I find this to be incredibly impressive. I work in media and I can say with full confidence that I would have no idea what to do if I was put in Alvarez’s shoes. Strike that, I barely have any idea of what to do when the WiFi goes out at home. But the quick-thinking reporter managed to deliver the Elite Eight updates in a fun and creative way while simultaneously making the NCAA look like the petty overbearing clowns that they are. Give this man a raise and his own show.
