Via News OK:
About 11:00 P.M., Wednesday, Norman police were dispatched on a report of a man with a hatchet destroying shrubbery outside the Wal-Mart at 3651 Classen Blvd. Police were told that when approached by a store employee, the man pointed a gun at him, then left the scene.
Shortly afterward, police received a call that a man matching the same description had driven through the back fence of a fraternity house in the 1200 block of College Avenue. Preliminary information indicates that the man, later identified as Valentin, fired two rounds at the residence and one inside his vehicle.
After being confronted by several members of the fraternity, Valentin pointed the gun at them and attempted to fire a shot, and threw a hatchet toward the fraternity members. No one was injured, police said.
Norman, Oklahoma police found Valentin’s body west of the fraternity house with the gun nearby. According to police, early information indicates that Valentin, who was a pre-law studies major had prior issues with the targeted fraternity.
Rowdy Gilbert, a spokesman for the university, said counseling services were made available to members of Phi Gamma Delta and any affected students. The incident remains under investigation by Norman police.
