The third season of FOX’s mega hit Empire returns from its mid-season hiatus tonight, Wednesday, March 22, on FOX at 9:00 P.M. EST. The mid-season premiere episode is titled “Sound and Fury.” In the fall finale, Cookie organized a free park concert to strengthen Angelo’s mass appeal as he attempts to earn the mayoral bid. Additionally, the FBI froze Empire’s assets as the investigation into Lucious continues.
Empire remains one of the bigger ratings hits on TV in terms of live viewership, with season three averaging a robust 8.665 million eyeballs. That doesn’t even begin to account for the Live + 3 and Live + 7 numbers. Star Taraji P. Henson’s Cookie is without a doubt the breakout character of the hit show and the actress heads into the second half of season three fresh off the Oscar-nominated Hidden Figures.
