St. Augustine's University Student Killed In Drive-By Shooting In Washington D.C.

Ayana McAllister, an 18-year-old student, was gunned down while watching her friends make a music video in northeast Washington, D.C., during her spring break.
McAllister, a criminal justice major at St Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina, was visiting family and friends while home from school.
Her family told ABC 7 that around 8:40 P.M. on Monday, March 20, Ayana and her sister were in a parking lot on Benning Road watching the filming of a friend’s rap video when at least 30 shots were fired when one bullet hitting Ayana. She died Tuesday morning at a local hospital.

Family members say Ayana, on Monday night, while on spring break was in a Northeast D.C. parking lot watching the filming of a friend’s rap video at least 30 shots rang out. The 18-year-old who participated in the Maryland State Police Cadet Program was hit by gunfire and died Tuesday morning.
“Absolutely innocent bystander. She is not the type of kid that would involve herself in anything of that nature. She was at the wrong place at the wrong time,” Anthony McAllister said.

According to family members, Ayana loved fashion and played basketball at Largo High School.

“I don’t know exactly what happened but I do know that I do not have my baby girl anymore,” said Ayana’s father Anthony McAllister.

At this time, police do not have a motive or a suspect.
