Yari Arroyo, an FDNY EMT and mother of five has been killed after a criminal stole her ambulance and hit her with it. She died from her injuries at Jacobi Hospital.
The incident occurred in the Bronx, New York, around 7 PM on Thursday, March 16. The two EMTs involved were both female. The deceased EMT’s partner, Monique Williams, 31, suffered minor injuries and is being treated for emotional shock.
Arroyo was a 14-year veteran of the FDNY, but more importantly, a mother of five.

Witness Anis Nagi, 40, said he and others flagged down the ambulance when they saw the suspect riding on the back. The medics pulled over.
“The female EMT came out of the vehicle,” Nagi said. “She left the door open.”
As Arroyo tried to talk to the 25-year-old man, he hopped into the driver’s seat. After a brief struggle, mayhem erupted in a matter of seconds. The vehicle throttled backwards — and into Arroyo.
“He reversed so hard and she was dragged,” Nagi said. “He ran over her and she went under the wheels.”
The suspect has been identified by NYC Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro as a 25-year-old male. The NYPD says a suspect is in custody, but his name and motive have not been revealed.

What Happened?
According to NBC, the two EMTs were alerted that the suspect was riding “on the back bumper of their ambulance in the Bronx at around 7 PM” as they headed to a call. The EMTs got out to approached the man, who jumped into the ambulance driver seat and ran over Arroyo.

Who Is Yari Arroyo?
Yari Arroyo ws a 44-year-old mother of five and EMT who was killed after a man ran her over with her own ambulance.
Arroyo’s family member’s have been posting tributes on social media, via Heavy:
Arroyo’s brother wrote on social media, “She was my only sister… I may not have been raised with her, but I loved her like If we did… why God.. she was a good person.. RIP Yari Arroyo I will always love you…”
A cousin wrote on Facebook, “A member of our family has just been killed; Yari Arroyo was an EMT working in NYC and was run over by the man she was trying to help, when he stole the ambulance and run over both EMTs Killing my Cousin!”
