Both schools received a double bye, so they only had to win one game to advance to the ACC Tournament semifinals.
The Seminoles prevailed over #7 Virginia Tech 74-68 in the quarterfinals, while the Fighting Irish beat #6 Virginia 71-58 in their quarterfinal matchup. This will be the third meting between Florida State and Notre Dame this year, and the series is currently deadlocked at 1-1 with both teams winning at home and losing on the road. The Seminoles beat the Fighting Irish 83-80 on January 18, and Notre Dame got even with an 84-72 victory over Florida State on February 11.
