They’ve won seven out of their last eight games and six straight coming into tonight’s contest. Their biggest victories over this torrid stretch of play were a 92-89 road win over #3 Kansas and a 72-69 home win over #9 Baylor.
The #10 Mountaineers (23-7, 11-6 Big 12) had won three in a row before getting tripped up by #11 Baylor in their most recent game. West Virginia lost 71-62 on the road to Baylor, as the Bears were able to avenge an earlier season 89-68 loss.
Speaking of avenging a previous defeat, that’s exactly what Iowa State will look to do tonight. On January 31, 2017, West Virginia left Iowa State’s campus with an impressive 85-72 victory. It will be interesting to see how the Cyclones will fare against the Mountaineers’ smothering press defense the second time around.
