The Round of 16 for the 2016-2017 Champions League will kick off today, with two exciting matches on tap for soccer fans. We’ve got Paris Saint-Germain taking on Barcelona and Benfica facing off against Borussia Dortmund in leg one matches of the aggregate format.
Benfica will have home field advantage first, as today’s match will be played in front of a raucous Portugal crowd. The action will then head to Germany for leg two on March 8.
In last year’s Champions League, Benfica made it all the way to the quarterfinals before losing to Bayern Munich 3-2 (aggregate). As for Borussia Dortmund, they didn’t even play in the Champions League last year, instead participating in the Europa League. They advanced to the quarterfinals before getting sent home by Liverpool via a 5-4 (aggregate) score.
