Dimitrious Gargasoulas Identified As Man Responsible For Melbourne Attack That Left Four Dead

Dimitrious “Jimmy” Gargasoulas, 26, has been named by local media as the man at the wheel of the Holden Commodore as it burnt out and then proceeded to “deliberately” drive into pedestrians, killing four and injuring over 20. Gargasoulas, a local Melbourne man, was charged with domestic violence offenses just last weekend but was released on bail.
The four people killed included a man in his 30s, a woman in her 30s, and a young child. Gargasoulas is now in at St. Vincent’s Hospital after being shot by police. Gargasoulas is accused of deliberately driving into pedestrians in Melbourne’s city center during the lunchtime rush. Gargasoulas was wearing nothing but red underwear when he was detained by police at Elizabeth Street.
Melbourne Police tried to intercept his vehicle, but they were forced to call off the chase as he entered the downtown area because they feared his driving was so erratic that a chase through the city might endanger the community.
In the weeks leading up to his attack, Gargasoulas posted a series of disturbed Facebook posts in which he vowed to “have God’s laws restored.” In another post he describes himself as a Muslim Greek Kurd.

The maroon car was owned by a neighbor Gavin Wilson, 76, who described Mr Gargasoulas as a “nice kid,” The Age reported.
