Without Trevor Noah murdering The Daily Show and Stephen Colbert locked into The Late Show, John Oliver has taken over as the world’s premiere parody newscast and rightfully so. Oliver’s Last Week Tonight is as poignant and hilarious as both The Daily Show and The Colbert Report (okay, maybe not as funny as The Colbert Report) were in their days, and being that Oliver’s is a Daily Show descendent, it only makes sense.
Now, I don’t know if Oliver had any direct hand in creating the concept for this promo, but holy hell is it funny. Here I am, middle of the week, literally crying because of how funny this commercial is. Just show’s how self-aware the folks at Last Week Tonight truly are.
