Markeith Loyd, 41, the man accused of killing an Orlando Police officer, has been captured and arrested according to a tweet from the Orlando Police Department Tuesday evening.
Police Chief John Mina said Loyd was taken into custody in Orlando Tuesday evening. Chief Mina also said the arresting officers used fallen Orlando police officer Debra Clayton’s handcuffs to secure Loyd, who shot and killed Master Sgt. Clayton January 9 in the parking lot of the Walmart on Princeton Street. Police said Loyd was most likely wearing a bulletproof vest when he shot Clayton.

Loyd also allegedly shot and killed his pregnant ex-girlfriend and remained at large for a week before he was arrested, being added to the U.S. Marshals’ top 15 most wanted list Tuesday.
According to NBC, authorities have been searching for Loyd since early December, when he was accused of shooting and killing his pregnant ex-girlfriend, Sade Dixon, December 13. After Orlando police searched for Loyd in an abandoned building at Rosemont Country Club near Lake Orlando on Sunday but did not find anything, they were finally able to capture him just two days later. No details of Tuesday’s arrest, including the location, were initially provided.
