The Patriots are headed to Miami, and they’re looking to kick ass and claim the top seed in the AFC playoff field. The New England team is currently leading in the AFC East, and you can bet that they want to take things to the next level. Meanwhile, the Dolphins are right behind them in the AFC East and on New Year’s Day, this Miami team will be looking to knock the Patriots down a peg or two.
The New England team is on the road again, which, based on their history, appears to play in the Patriots favor. The Patriots hold a 7-0 record on the road this season. They’ll look to improve their score 8-0 on Sunday against the Dolphins, and once again finish the season with a perfect road score (they did the same thing back in 2007 with a road score of 8-0). Right now, the Patriots are leading the AFC East, with 13 victories and only two losses this season. On the other hand, the Dolphins are not far behind, with a record of 10 wins and five losses this season. The Dolphins will be looking to make up for this year’s September 18 defeat at Gillette Stadium by the New England Patriots.
The Dolphins and the Patriots have a long-standing rivalry that goes back 51 years and this will be the 103rd time they will clash on a football field. The last time these two teams faced off on New Year’s Day was all the way back in 2005, which ended with a Miami victory over New England 28-26. Even though the Patriots are undefeated during their road games this season, they have lost their three last visits to Miami. Perhaps, playing in Miami is the Patriots’ Achilles’ heel.
