Video footage has emerged of Russian ambassador Andrei Karlov’s assassination. The shooter, Mert Altintas, is a Turkish police officer in the city of Ankara. Altintas could be seen calmly standing behind Karlov during the Russian ambassador’s speech. It is being reported that Altintas checked into the event at the Contemporary Art Gallery with his police credentials.
The assassination was aired on live television, as Altintas pulled out his weapon and shot Ambassador Karlov multiple times. Karlov died immediately.
Altintas was then heard yelling about Aleppo before he was eventually neutralized by Ankara Police special forces.
