One person has been injured in a fire at the NYU Langone Medical Center building after construction material caught fire Wednesday morning. Firefighters were sent to the facility on First Ave. near E. 31st St. after getting a 12:03 P.M. 911 call.
According to witnesses, flames burst through the ceiling, sending smoke pouring into the streets. Two hospital workers rushed to the roof but were seen retreating as the flames spread out of control. The fire was under control within an hour.

The two-alarm fire began just after noon and burned through the seventh floor of the Kimmel Pavilion on the east side of Manhattan, authorities said.
One person suffered a minor injury, a New York Fire Department official said. No patients were evacuated, the hospital official said.
The fire was under control within an hour and the investigation is ongoing.
Cause of NYU Langone Fire
A material called “rigid board” caught fire on the fifth floor of 560 First Ave., which is under construction near East 30th Street, at about 12:13 P.M., FDNY officials said. The fire was under control within the hour.
