This Saturday, one of the most exciting and unexpected fights of the year will take place at the O2 Arena in London, as Gennady Golovkin and Kell Brook will duke it out. Boxing fans all over the world were shocked when it was announced that Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) would step into the ring with the much larger Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs). Brook, a welterweight titleholder, accepted the challenge of a lifetime by moving up two weight classes to fight GGG at middleweight.
Golovkin, of Karagandy, Kazakhstan, will be making his 17th title defense at middleweight and his WBC and IBF belts will be on the line. GGG is the most feared man in boxing, as he’s knocked out the opposition in his last 22 bouts. Despite being one of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the world and having the homefield advantage as a British boxer, most experts feel that Brook has bitten off more than he can chew in this matchup.
