Police in the Czech Republic allegedly stopped “an armed man” (source The Daily Star) in a 4×4 Mercedes as he apparently tried to join Angela Merkel’s motorcade in Prague. Various media outlets are reporting this as an assassination attempt.
Josef Bocan, a police spokesman, said this, “He is suspected of attempting to cause a crime – specifically an attempt to use violence against an official.” Here’s an account from The Daily Star.
The driver of the Mercedes refused to obey orders from police cars accompanying Merkel.
Cops said he “tried to join the procession at all costs, cutting off a police vehicle that was trying to stop him” and only stopped “after police warned him that they were going to shoot”.
Police found a baton, a canister of tear gas and handcuffs in the man’s car.
If they were truly trying to kidnap, abduct, or assault the PRIME MINISTER OF GERMANY, this person obviously hadn’t thought their plans through. Thank god.
