Darlene Horton was identified as the woman who was murdered in the Russell Square attack. She is the wife of Florida State University psychology professor Richard Wagner. Horton was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Tallahassee Democrat reports that Horton was in London with her husband, Florida State University professor Richard Wagner, who is in London for a summer study program. The couple was set to return to the United States on Friday, August 4, the day after the attack.
According to The Sun, Horton’s last words were “He’s still here, he’s still here.”
In a statement after the attack, Florida State University President John Thrasher said:
There are no words to express our heartache over this terrible tragedy. We are shocked that such senseless violence has touched our own FSU family, and we will do all we can to assist Professor Wagner and his loved ones, as well as his friends and colleagues in the Psychology department, as they mourn.
