An explosion has gone off in an apartment building in Malmo, Sweden. According to RT, there has been an explosion in an apartment in a residential area in Malmo, Sweden. Emergency services and police are at the scene and the area has been sectioned off. At this stage, it is suspected to just be a simple gas explosion.
““There has been an explosion in one of the apartments,” she said
According to the initial report received by police around 10 P.M. local time, the explosion occurred indoors in an area around Trelleborg Road. Police say that windows were reportedly shattered by the blast, however, it is currently unclear if any people were inside the apartment.
Paul Juhlin, a police officer at the scene, said:
“What we know, no one has been injured. But we choose to cordon off the area because an explosion was observed in an apartment and we have called the bomb technicians to the scene,”
As reports continue to come in, police now say the apartment was empty when the explosion happened, and that there is at least one injury, however no injuries have been confirmed. Authorities have asked people in the neighborhood to remain in their homes while they resolve the situation.

A man was rushed to hospital after he was shot in broad daylight at a busy shopping centre in southern Sweden. The man was reportedly shot in the left leg at around 4.20pm in Malmo after becoming involved in a brawl inside the Rosengård Centre. Despite the recent terror attacks across Europe, police in Malmo have said they do not yet know the motive behind the shooting.
