Forever 21, AKA where virtually every millennial shops, has caught some unwarranted sh*t for a line of boy’s t-shirts they have recently released.
Forever 21 aded children’s clothing to its collection of affordable women’s and menswear back in 2015. No one really noticed, I sure as hell didn’t. Well, guess what, people of finally noticed, and it’s because of an utterly ridiculous reason. The “offensive” t-shirts in question contain messages that present boys as being, well, boys.
“Hola ladies,” “Sorry ladies I only date models,” “Ladies man,” and “Chicks are all over me,” are among the vilified t-shirts, and honestly, if people have time to get upset about this, they need to go and find themselves both a job and a hobby. Get a f*cking grip.
For example, take this ass hat, University of Kentucky psychology professor Christia Brown:
“It is completely inappropriate for companies to sell those shirts to young boys. Even I am pretty shocked by those, and little shocks me these days.:
Hey, Christia, PHD or not, you’re an idiot!
“It sexualizes children at an age when they should not be sexualized,” Spears Brown continues. “It reinforces a harmful stereotype about boys that says their value and worth is dependent on how many girls or women they can ‘conquer.’ This has a ripple effect that can harm boys, both gay and straight, as well as girls. It indirectly says that girls are only for sexual attention and not for friendship. Anything that says that only models are worthy of attention is never positive for girls.”
Hey, uh, Doc, you ever hear the saying “boys will be boys”? It doesn’t matter what f*cking t-shirt they wear when they’re 6 years old: when boys grow up, they wanna chase women. Simple as that. People need to get a f*cking clue.
